Toksport WRT gets the green light for 2023 DTM Season.
Nürburgring based team will contuniue their partnership with Porsche Motorsport in 2023. Toksport WRT will be running two brand new 992 generation GT3 R’s. Driving one of them will be the Porsche GT Works driver Christian Engelhart. Engelhart is one of the most experienced drivers in GT scene and a familiar face to 911 racing machines. Started racing with 911’s in Porsche Carrera Cup in 2008, Christian Engelhart has more than 100 podiums and over 40 victories under his belt. He commented:
“I’m really looking forward to the DTM with Toksport WRT and Porsche. After a long winter with many discussions, we are finally about to get going! This challenge with the new generation of the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) and the new ADAC DTM platform is huge and that’s exactly my thing. We will use the time until the first race to familiarize ourselves as a team and be as well prepared as possible for the start of the season. Thanks to Toksport WRT for the trust, now it’s time to step on the gas!”
Next to him in Toksport WRT garage will be Tim Heinemann. Coming from a sim racing background, Heinemann proved himself in his second year in his physical racing career by becoming the DTM Trophy Champion by over 100 points. Also crowned as the DTM Trophy Chamipon in 2022, Tim Heinemann also experienced driving a 991 generation Porsche 911 GT3 R on Norschleife. He commented:
“I am very happy to be competing in the DTM with Toksport WRT this year. Making it into the DTM has been a dream of mine for years. I would like to thank my partners RaceRoom, KW automotive and Metalldesign for their support so far, as well as Toksport WRT and Porsche for their trust. When I started virtual racing on my RaceRoom simulator in 2009, the DTM seemed like an unattainable dream. Now to be the first SimRacer to make it from the simulator to the DTM and represent the SimRacing community makes me proud.
I will have a full GT3 programme this year and after several years in GT4 I feel more than ready for the step up!“
Toksport raced previously in GT World Challenge Europe, NLS, 24 Hours of Nürburgring with Porsche in 2022, and participated in DTM as a single entry during 2021 season in Nürburgring.
“With a racing experience more than 20 years, we, asToksport WRT, are ready for the upcoming 2023 DTM season including every small detail. Our crew finished preperations working long hours for upcoming eight races in different venues. With full confidence in our partner Porsche Motorsport, our drivers and our crew, we are looking forward to this new adventure.”
We wish everyone in the sport a great season looking forward to meeting the fans!
