We are the Triple Champions of 2022 WRC2
Emil Lindholm and Reeta Hämäläinen have claimed the 2022 WRC2 drivers and co-drivers’ titles after finishing third at FORUM8 Rally Japan. Also with this results, Toksport WRT becomes WRC2 Teams’ Champion once again.*
2022 Season was full of ups and downs for everyone. Going into the last race in Japan, there were three championship contenders. With all the seven races complete for our driver Andreas Mikkelsen, the title decision was up to Emil Lindholm – Reeta Hämäläinen. They had a great start to the rally with a good gap. Although their contender was out of the race on Friday morning, they kept their pace and lead until the penultimate stage. With a more safe and relaxed pace, they finished the race third, which was already enough for the championship.
As reminder, Emil Lindholm already claimed the WRC2 Junior title after his win Greece, so it makes two drivers’ title up to his name.
With an excellent drive from young Sami Pajari finishing in fourth place in Japan, we also won the Teams Championship. Even this is not a first for us, this still means a lot because of the level of competition and also being drivers’ and Junior champion at the same time. If you add the heart break of missing the title in the last stage last year and this year also fighting until the very first stage this one is a special.
Many thanks to our drivers, for the ambition excitement. Many thanks to our crew for their hard work and commitment. Many thanks to our sponsors for believing in what this team can achieve. Most importantly, many thanks to our fans; in stages, service areas, on social media and everywhere for their support. This accomplishments will push us to be even stronger next year. See you next season!
