Toksport WRT Starts Season With Rallye Monte Carlo Win

2020 WRC2 Teams’ Champion Toksport WRT starts 2021 season with icy Rallye Monte Carlo. Everchanging conditions between snow-ice-damp tarmac, Andreas Mikkelsen and Ola Floene kept everything under control and brought Skoda Fabia R5 to top of the WRC2 podium finishing the rally 7th overall.

After completing night stages on Thursday, Norweigan two time rally winner said: “We had a good start, I think. I tried to make the tyres work as good as possible but I had to be really careful.” Mikkelsen was also happy with the car on Friday stages as he mentioned: “I’m really enjoying it. The gap is quite good now and it’s a nice feeling, because in the car we don’t feel like we’re pushing very hard. I think the Skoda is fantastic in these conditions especially and my gravel crew is also doing a great job.”

They had a little moment where they spun at the Power Stage, but that wasn’t costly, neither effective as Mikkelsen and Floene won the Power Stage in WRC2 category. Mikkelsen’s final comment was: “It has been really nice. Tricky in the last stage because there was no gravel crew allowed. The key to success here is to be at one with your gravel crew and luckily I work very closely with my crew all of the time. We spent some time here before the recce to get synchronised and it has paid off.”

Our second pair Marco Bulacia and Marcelo der Ohannesian finished their first Monte Carlo in 4th place in WRC2 category, despite changing a punctured wheel in 6th stage on Friday afternoon.
