A successful weekend for Toksport WRT at the GT World Challenge Europe in Magny Cours, France: The racing team from Quiddelbach on the Nürburgring was happy about two podium places in the Silver Cup. Oscar Tunjo and Juuso Puhakka, who started in the Mercedes-AMG GT3, celebrated victory in the first race on Saturday. A second place followed on Sunday.
The first race on Saturday was held late in the evening under floodlights. Start driver Oscar Tunjo fought his way up from twelfth place on the grid and handed over the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in eighth place to his team mate Juuso Puhakka. The Finn finished the race in ninth place after one hour, which also meant victory in the Silver Cup. In the second race, eighth place in the final standings even helped him to second place in the Silver Cup and thus to another podium finish.
At the season opener in Misano, Italy, Oscar Tunjo and Juuso Puhakka were still without points. But now the duo is attacking the sprint classification in the Silver Cup. After the fifth of ten races, Tunjo and Puhakka are in fourth place in the drivers’ championship. Toksport WRT can also be happy about the fourth position in the team ranking.
Robin Rogalski and Mick Wishofer also drove a Mercedes-AMG GT3 under the flag of Toksport WRT. On Saturday the duo retired after a collision at the start after only a few corners. In the second race Rogalski and Wishofer convinced with a flawless performance. In the end, the duo finished 16th overall. In the Silver Cup it was enough for fifth place.
The next races in the GT World Challenge Europe will take place from 25 to 27 September in Zandvoort, the Netherlands. On the well-known dune circuit on the North Sea coast, two sprint races will again be held, each lasting one hour. The season finale is scheduled for October 9 to 11. In Barcelona, the pilots will have to complete three races at the end of the season.
