Toksport WRT has signed with Oscar Andrés Tunjo another talent for the 2020 season. Oscar Tunjo is alongside the Finnish Juuso Puhakka the next promising newcomer of Toksport WRT. The team from Quiddelbach near the Nürburgring is thus bringing a second Mercedes-AMG GT3 to the grid in the Sprint Cup of the GT World Challenge Europe.
Oscar Andrés Tunjo has been involved in motorsport since 2001 and drove karting until 2009. He competed in various formula racing series and finished second in Formula BMW Pacific 2010. In 2012 and 2013 the Colombian achieved in total seven pole positions and victories in the Formula Renault Eurocup and was also part of the Lotus Formula 1 Junior Team.
After further stations in the Formula Renault 3.5 World Series and the GP3 Series, he switched to GT racing in 2017. After several guest races in the ADAC GT Masters, the youngster started in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe last season. After one victory and three 3rd places, he finished in fifth position in the “Silver Cup”.
“Im very happy to have the opportunity to compete for the Toksport WRT Mercedes-AMG team. I will give my best to fight for podiums working together with team in the GT World Challenge Championship. During testing in Paul Ricard I felt at home with team and this is very important to get the results we want to achieve,” says Oscar Tunjo, looking forward to the new cooperation.
Toksport WRT has been successfully involved in rally and racing since 2002, including the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). Last season Toksport WRT competed for the first time as a Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team at various events. This season Toksport WRT is running with two Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the GT World Challenge Europe.
