The Finn Juuso Puhakka will drive for Toksport WRT in the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup 2020. The team, based in Quiddelbach near the Nürburgring, will start with a Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Juuso Puhakka started his career with karting in 2007 and won the Northern European Karting Championship in 2014. From 2015-2017 he participated in Formula 4 races throughout Europe. 2018, he switched over to GT racing and won the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Championship straight away. Last year, he confirmed his great performance by finishing second in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia and Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East Pro Drivers’ Championship. Now it is time to return to Europe.
“I am very exited to the new challenge with Toksport WRT in the GT World Challenge. The championship is filled with many good drivers and teams and is probably the toughest GT3 sprint series in the world. We had a great test in Paul Ricard and I am hoping for strong results,” says the 21-year-old from Kirkkonummi.
Toksport WRT has been successfully involved in rallies since 2002, including in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), with additional races on circuits later. Last season Toksport WRT started at various events as Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing Team for the first time. “We are very happy to continue and even extend our successful cooperation with Mercedes-AMG. With Juuso and his team mate, whom we will announce soon, we have been able to sign two promising talents and put together a competitive package,” explains team boss Emre Buyukbayrak.
