Toksport WRT drivers completed the second round of World Rally Championship in Sweden. Toksport WRT had 3 cars driven by, Yigit Timur, Henning Solberg and Eyvind Brynildsen. The experienced Henning Solberg / Ilka Minor duo completed the rally in 7th position at WRC2 following their teammate Eyvind Brynildsend / Veronica Engan just by 1.2 seconds who completed the rally 6th at WRC2. Toksport WRT’s new driver Yigit Timur was on the wheel of the third Skoda Fabia R5 car and it was his first experience on WRC snow stages. Timur completed the rally in P14 at WRC2 and he said ” I had my first World Rally Championship experience this weekend at WRC Rally Sweden. I had 4 days of adventure with our new car and my new co-driver Maxime Vilmot. While we were getting used to driving on snow, geography, new car and new note system we stuck in the snowbank couple of times and we had to do a super rally. It was the biggest and the hardest race I’ve ever participated in, I had the chance to learn a lot of things during this rally. “
Rally Hadeland is over and Henning Solberg took the 3rd position. He was first on the road and he had to clear the stages from the heavy snow. This cost him a lot of time and the chance of fight for the lead . Eyvind Brynildsen followed Solberg just by 5.7 seconds and completed the rally in 4th position. Eyvind was leading the rally but in the fifth stage he spun and lost the lead and chances for podium. Yigit Timur was unlucky with his first experience on snow. He went off the road and couldn’t complete the rally. He said ” It was our first experience on snow and we had the opportunity to try different setups on our car. In the penultimate stage of the rally , my co-driver got hurt from a high speed jump and we stucked in a snow bank due to lack of concentration. We managed to recover the car but we decided not to continue to rally and headed back to service area. We are still happy to have this experience before WRC Rally Sweden.”
2nd place for Henning Solberg and Ilka Minor at Sigdalsrally 2019. In the first rally of the season for the duo, it was a good test before the WRC Rally Sweden to see the setup of the car. The rally had 8 stages with a longest one of 16,8 km all on snow and ice. The setup and the pace gave a good idea for the similar conditions of Rally Sweden.
First test and first rally of the season for our team takes place at Finland Piippolaralli this weekend. We will be running 2 Skoda Fabia R5 cars with Matti Koskelo/Rami Suorsa and Kimmo Kurkela/Markku Tuohino. The crews also will be running in Lapland Arctic Rally at the end of the month so it will be a good test for them as well.
