Toksport WRT drivers had a successful weekend at WRC Rally Sweden. A small mistake cost Finn driver Janne Tuohino valuable times but he kept his pace and scored 2 times, second fastest stage time in WRC2 . On the famous Colins Crest jump, Jarmo Berg flew to 33 meters with a 10th longest jump overall. By the end of last stage, Janne Tuohino / Reeta Hamalainen finished fifth in WRC2, while Jarmo Berg / Rami Suorso was tenth in WRC2.
Toksport WRT will be racing with 2 crews in Rally Sweden as the opening round of 2018 season. Finnish drivers Janne Tuohino and Reeta Hämäläinen will be competing in Skoda Fabia R5. The second Skoda Fabia R5 will also be driven by Finnish drivers Jarmo Berg and Rami Suorso and both crews will score points for Toksport WRT.
Orhan Avcioglu and Burcin Korkmaz had an unlucky weekend at Rallye Casinos do Algarve for the FIA ERT Final. The duo completed the first day third overall and second in FIA ERT. The misfortune started with the second day’s stages. They had a puncture following by an off road. With this incident, Orhan’s podium and FIA ERT title hope evaporated and he had to retire from the rally.
Ugur Soylu and his new co-driver Mehmet Koleoglu finished in second position after the two day battle in Kocaeli Rally for the final round of Turkish Rally Championship. Ugur had a good pace and hold the first place at the end of day one but due to a puncture on the opening stage of the second day he lost his lead and completed the rally in second place . With this result Ugur also completed the season in second place in Turkish Rally Championship. Menderes Okur and Ufuk Uluocak had to retire in their Mitsubishi Evo IX due to a mechanical failure.
Toksport WRT drivers Orhan Avcioglu and Burcin Korkmaz were at the penultimate round of WRC, Wales Rally GB. The duo was on the Wales gravel for the first time and they went off the road in the stage and had a slight damage on the car. Except for the damage to the car, they had no mechanical problem until the end of the rally and with a good pace, they managed to finish rally 14th among 22 WRC2 cars and 33rd in overall.
Orhan Avcioğlu and Burçín Korkmaz romped to an emphatic victory in the Marmaris Rally, Turkey’s dress rehearsal event for inclusion in the 2018 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).
The Toksport WRT Skoda Fabia R5 driver won seven of the 13 special stages in the hills and remote villages to the north and west of Marmaris. Avcioğlu controlled his pace to perfection to the finish to claim a winning margin of 6min 08.9sec.
Mustafa Bulutoğlulari took the last place on podium in Toksport WRT run Skoda Fabia R5 and Uğur Soylu finished fourth in Toksport WRT run Skoda Fabia R5.
Menderes Okur was 9th overall and Vedat Diker finished 11th overall in Toksport WRT run Mitsubishi Evo IX’s.
Orhan Avcioglu said ” It’s been an amazing weekend, almost like a roller coaster! We had a tight fight for the podium since the first stage. We made a mistake and went off the road on Saturday but Skoda proved that it’s built tough and managed to escape with only cosmetic damage. Other than that we made no mistakes and tried to drive as fast as possible. Marmaris Rally Turkey is the most important motorsport event in Turkey, we are absolutely delighted to win! Also with this win we managed to secure the title for FIA Balkan Rally Trophy “
Toksport WRT drivers Orhan Avcioglu and Burcin Korkmaz scored their first points in WRC 2 at RallyRACC Catalunya 2017. After a 3-day mixed surface rally, they were able to finish 8th in WRC2 and gained valuable experience for the future races.
Orhan Avcioglu said “It’s our first time in WRC2 and also the first time with the Fabia R5. It’s been a very positive rally for us, very valuable experience to test the Skoda on both gravel and tarmac. We tried to make progress all weekend to see where we are with the pace. We have room to improve which is positive. I’m grateful for the opportunity our team has given us, I must thank every member. The car worked like clockwork all weekend with no troubles.”
Toksport WRT drivers Orhan Avcioglu-Burcin Korkmaz are going to be the first Turkish crew to compete in WRC2 category driving a Skoda Fabia R5. The current program includes Rally RACC Catalunya between 5th and 8th October and Wales Rally GB between 26-29 October.
Ever since the foundation, Toksport WRT, who successfully represents Turkey in the global motorsport arena, is leading the way once again. Orhan Avcioglu will be the first Turkish rally driver to participate in the WRC2 category of the World Rally Championship which is one of the most prestigious events in motorsports. Orhan Avcioglu and his co-driver Burçin Korkmaz will drive Skoda Fabia R5 rally car in RallyRACC Catalunya which will take place in Spain between 5th and 8th of October. All preparations are finished for the rally which has both gravel and tarmac stages, Orhan Avcioglu and Toksport WRT is looking forward to the experience and the feedback they are hoping to collect over the weekend and move them to the future races in the WRC category.
For this important step, Orhan Avcioglu states “Our WRC2 program consists of RallyRACC Catalunya and Wales Rally GB. The WRC2 class stands out for being the most competitive category for R5 cars. This will be my first time competing in Spain and GB, as well as my first time driving the Skoda Fabia R5. Our goal for 2018 is to compete in full WRC2 campaign. Therefore we plan to take this opportunity to gain some experience and prepare in the best possible way for 2018 and beyond.”
Toksport WRT drivers Orhan Avcioglu and Burcin Korkmaz climbed to leadership at Balkan Rally Tropy after winning the Serbia Rally. After a 2 day battle with Plamen Staykov , Orhan made an enough gap before the last stage for winning the rally. Toksport WRT drivers for Group N, Menderes Okur and Ufuk Uluocak also made a good job and completed second in European Rally Trophy and finished 9th overall in Rally Serbia.
Toksport WRT drivers have achieved significant success at the Sliven Rally, the fifth leg of the Balkan Rally Trophy . Orhan Avcioglu-Burçin Korkmaz won the second prize in the general classification and increased their claim in the championship.
After the race, Orhan Avcioglu said, “We have got good points for the Balkan Rally Trophy and we continue to be in a good situation. The whole race was a real solid fight for the first three drivers. ” saying that his goal for the Serbian Rally was a podium.
The Serbian Rally, the 6th leg of the Balkan Rally Trophy will take place between September 22nd and 24th in tarmac roads in the Uzice region in western Serbia.
